The season races to its conclusion and the ultimate confrontation between Jessica and Kilgrave.
Jessica rushes Luke to a hospital in the hopes of treating his injury, but the doctors can’t get their needles through his skin. With little hope of actually getting help, Jessica turns her attention to getting him out with his secret more or less intact, especially with the cops on their tail. Fortunately they run into Claire and with her past association with Daredevil she agrees to help.
Claire begins escorting them out of the building, but a phone call from Kilgrave holds Jessica up. Sending Clair back to her apartment with Luke, Jessica sneaks her way to security looking for Kilgrave. He escapes, but with his expanded ability set he turns the entire hospital on her. She manages to get out with only a cut on her leg.
She makes it home to find Claire desperately trying to treat Luke as he goes into a seizure. She holds him down while Claire puts a needle through his eye to relieve the pressure. They then leave him to rest while Claire treats Jessica’s leg.
Kilgrave, upset that he still can’t control Jessica, goes back to his father and demands to be given all of the remaining serum that has been increasing his powers, regardless of the risk, and tries to decide whether to keep Jessica a prisoner or simply kill her.
Jessica tells the unconscious Luke goodbye and puts her PI skills to work and gets Kilgrave’s current address from his phone, convincing Claire to watch over him while she checks it out with Trish. When she arrives she finds one of the owners dead, and the other trying to dispose of Albert’s arms, while Albert lies bleeding out on the floor. She locks the man in the closet and Albert warns her about Kilgrave’s added strength with his final breath. A picture of the owner’s yacht is left on the counter, an invitation from Kilgrave to come and get him.
Jessica arrives at the ferry ticket office, approaching the docks, and Kilgrave calls out to her, demanding to see her face, but can’t be heard over headphones and blaring music. Cops under his control surround her, pointing their weapons, and she pulls back her hood to reveal that she was really Trish in disguise. Jessica herself uses the distraction to sneak past several of them, dodging bullets and racing after Kilgrave as he flees to the dock, locking the door behind her and Trish.
On the docks the two find a chilling scene of several frozen people, standing around as Kilgrave walks past toward the boat, preparing to leave. He orders them to kill each other, hoping to distract Jessica, but she ignores them and heads for him. Trish can’t stand idly by, and stops to try to pull them off of each other, but loses her headphones in the process. With Jessica quickly approaching Kilgrave loudly calls for her to stop, and everyone on the dock once again goes still, including Jessica.
Wanting to believe but not fully convinced that he is in control, Kilgrave decides to test Jessica. He orders Trisha to come over to him, and threatens to take away the only person that Jessica truly loves, making her his slave. When Jessica makes no move to try to save her, he becomes convinced that his final power upgrade has worked and approaches her, telling her that she will eventually love him as he loves her. With him right in front of her, Jessica reaches out and holds his mouth closed, lifting him off the ground and snapping his neck.
When Luke wakes, Claire tells him about the news reports that Jessica has been arrested, and that Kilgrave is dead. He sneaks out while her back is turned. Hogarth comes to Jessica’s defense, citing all of the witnesses, including the cops that fired on her, as proof of Kilgrave’s power and Jessica’s innocence. Returning to the office, Jessica finds that word of her actions has spread, and many people are considering her a hero and wanting her help. She wonders if she will ever consider herself to be a real hero.
