In the season finale everything comes together, pitting Daredevil against Fisk.
Ben’s funeral is a somber affair. Matt and Karen each blame themselves for Ben’s death. Matt for not doing enough to stop Fisk, Karen for pushing him into the story. Foggy doesn’t attend, which upsets Karen, but it is because Marci has managed to retrieve all of the Fisk files from her law office for them. The three gather together again, just like old times, and plot how they will use the information to take Fisk down.
Fisk looks over the arrangements that Wesley made to take Vanessa out of the country and sees some irregularities in the finances. When he confronts Owlsly about it he learns that the accountant has been stealing from him the entire time, that he conspired with Gao to kill Vanessa, and that he is planning on taking half of his assets and disappearing, while keeping the believed-to-be-missing Detective Hoffman captive as an insurance policy. Despite the danger that Hoffman poses, Fisk opts not to let the accountant get away with it, and tosses him down an elevator shaft before starting a sweep of the city, looking for the detective.
Matt and Foggy check in with Brett at the precinct and Matt overhears some of the dirty cops get their orders about Hoffman. Realizing that Hoffman could be the key to winning a case against Fisk they rush back to the office, and along with Karen search through Marci’s files to find possible hiding locations. Once they’ve found the hidden safe house, Daredevil arrives on the scene, just in time to keep Fisk’s men from killing Hoffman, and forces him to turn himself in to Brett.
With Hoffman testifying, Nelson and Murdock’s case against Fisk and everyone in his organization is under way, and many of the remaining figures including crooked cops, judges, and politicians are arrested. As they come for Fisk himself he uses his final moments to pass a set of instructions along to Vanessa, and to propose to her.
During transport, Fisk gives one of the coolest villain speeches ever and his men arrive to set him free. The firefight is on the news almost immediately and pulls Matt from his celebration. Matt returns to Potter to pick up his new armored costume and sets off after Fisk, tracking him down across the city before flipping his transport truck, just before he gets to his escape helicopter and the waiting Vanessa.
Fisk and the finally fully fledged Daredevil duke it out in an alleyway, exchanging blows and sentiments for the city, until Daredevil is finally able to knock Fisk out. Brett arrives just in time to make the final arrest, and with Fisk firmly back in custody Daredevil slips away into the night.
Matt, Foggy, and Karen get together to officially hang out the sign for Nelson and Murdock, reveling in their victory over Fisk, and Karen and Matt consider the things that they have each done to reach that victory.
