Try not to get whiplash from all of the quick turnarounds in this episode.
First “big” twist, Danny manages to catch a pole on the way down after getting pushed off the side of a building. He wakes up in Harold’s suite, apparently retreived from the street by Ward, after he went through all the trouble of attempted murder to keep him from going there. Danny is surprised that Ward tried to kill him and then immediately forgives him when he finds out Harold is alive. Harold asks for help with the Hand, the group responsible for him still being alive, because they are essentially holding him prisoner. To help with this Harold tells Ward to drop all of the legal barriers keeping Danny out of the company. Brief cut to Colleen telling her student that she was being a hypocrite by going to the fighting ring.
Danny is introduced to the world at a press conference and Hogarth tells him not to make any waves so early after his return, and he agrees. His next action is to sneak into a board meeting he wasn’t invited to and use his majority shareholder status to start selling a newly patented drug at cost and tick off all of the other shareholders.
Colleen also immediately shifts her position and goes back to the fight ring for round two. That gets a bit too exciting so we cut back to Danny chatting with Joy, telling her he didn’t bother to think about why he went through years of fighting to get his job in Kun’lun, though for once he doesn’t mention his fist. That got too boring so a bunch of guys with hatchets show up and try to kidnap Joy, and he has to fight. He saves her, they get away, and he takes her to Colleen before tracking them down. They were sent by the Triads, and immediately back down when he mentions the hand, yet another immediate about face.
Danny returns to Colleen’s to pick up Joy and offers again to give her money for the dojo, but she has too much honor to accept, despite not having too much honor to dishonor herself by entering illegal fights. Madame Gao kidnaps Harold and takes him to a place where he can watch Joy for a bit as a reward for securing their pier. He sees that she’s hurt from the attack and asks permission to kill the guy that did it, and he does.
Afterward Danny is exercising and receives a wooden bowl sent by the triads with a packet of the heroin we saw back in the Daredevil series.
