The new team of SHIELD Agents sees some high flying action and is put to the test.
Answering a call about a mysterious object, a SHIELD code 0-8-4, the team takes off for Peru, and Coulson brings Skye on board for the mission as a consultant, despite objections about her lack of suitability from Ward and May.
In Peru they encounter Comandante Camilla Reyes with the national police, an old acquaintance of Coulson’s, who has come to look into the artifact as well. Unfortunately both groups are attacked by bandits and make a hasty retreat with the device back to the plane. Once in the air Fitz confirms that the device is a Hydra weapon, using tesseract energy, and that it could be both very dangerous and highly unstable. The teams performance while on the ground, leading to the evacuation to the plane leads to a lot of in fighting between the Agents, and Camilla uses the apparent weakness of the team as an opportunity to take the device for her country. Her and her team hijack the plane, tying the agents up in the cargo hold, locking Coulson in his office with Camilla, and locking the plane down.
The Agents work together to create and implement a plan to take back the plane, and in the process blow a hole in it’s side using the Hydra weapon, blowing most of Camilla’s men out of the plane. Sky uses some quick thinking and the fact that she read the safety manual to seal the hole using a safety raft, and Coulson is able to subdue Camilla.
Ward admits that Skye has some potential to be an agent, and agrees to become her supervising officer to oversee her training. As the team rests at SHIELD headquarters and watches as the 0-8-4 is launched into the sun, Skye receives a communication from the Rising Tide and confirms that she’s in with SHIELD.
During repairs to the plane, Nick Fury berates Coulson for the damage, and warns him to be careful of his new recruit.
