Jessica Jones S1:E2 AKA Crush Syndrome

Simple Synopsis

Confrontation waits around every corner for Jessica, but it’s one potential confrontation she fears the most.

Jessica is questioned by the police in the aftermath of the Shlotman’s deaths, and she learns that her pictures of Luke have dragged him into the investigation. Once she’s released she goes to see Hope in lockup, looking for answers about Kilgrave’s return, but gets nowhere. She asks Hogarth to represent Hope, but Jeri tells her she’ll need to be convinced that Kilgrave is real before she’ll sign on.

Jessica goes to see Luke to apologize for the pictures and getting him involved, and he throws her out of the bar, upset to learn that the woman he’s been seeing is married and that Jessica has been spying on them. She then gets cornered by Trish, who’s worried about her and the danger that Kilgrave represents, and Jessica confesses that she’s keeping Trish at arms length to try to keep her safe.

Jessica, after shouting down her annoying upstairs neighbors, gets down to business trying to find out how Kilgrave is still alive after the bus accident that she thought killed him. She tracks down an ambulance driver that Kilgrave forced into giving up his kidneys, and begins to look into the person keeping him alive on dialysis.

Returning home, Jessica’s paranoia takes over and she assaults a contractor that Trish hired to fix her still broken door. Afterward she is confronted by Luke’s former lover, blaming her for ruining her marriage and warning that her husband is on his way give Luke a beatdown. She rushes to Luke’s bar to find a fight in full swing, but sees that Luke has secrets of his own. The two of them easily take care of the jealous husband and his friends and Jessica runs off.

The research into the dialysis machine pays off and connect’s Jessica to the surgeon that Kilgrave forced to replace his kidneys after the accident. She forces him to testify to Hogarth, and the second verified case of mind control gets her on board for Hope’s defense. He also gives her valuable information, that Kilgrave refused to be put under during the surgery, presumably because the drugs involved would stop his ability to control people.

Returning home again, Jessica finds Luke waiting for her, claiming that he saw her using her powers in the fight, and that she saw him. He demonstrates by grabbing a power saw the contractor left behind and holding it to his stomach, unable to pierce his skin.

Meanwhile, Kilgrave moves himself into a new apartment, taking control of the residents and demanding a meal.
