Jessica Jones S1:E4 AKA 99 Friends

Simple Synopsis

A new case sets Jessica on edge while new pieces call into place in the search for Kilgrave.

Jessica goes on the search to find out who’s been following and photographing her, but is interrupted by a new case, a jealous wife, Mrs. Eastman, looking to catch her cheating husband. As she’s taking the case Trish calls her over because Officer Simpson is back, convinced that he killed Trish and wanting to know what happened. He begs Jessica to let him help, but she doesn’t want him involved.

Jessica tries to confirm that Eastman wasn’t sent by Killgrave, checking in with Jeri’s office to confirm the recommendation and following the woman, waiting to see if Killgrave contacts her to refresh the timer on his control. While she waits she asks Simpson to get her police surveillance videos to help find her stalker.

After a bad encounter with her wife, Jeri’s divorce proceedings get difficult, so she calls in Jessica to dig up dirt on her soon to be ex. While she’s at the law offices she is asked to interview the crowd of people that have come in with Kilgrave stories after Trish’s radio show, and actually finds a few that she believes. She has them exchange information to start a support group for his victims.

Simpson comes through with the footage, and is as paranoid and on edge as she is, nearly attacking Malcom. She watches the footage for a while before running out of booze and heading for a store, when she’s interrupted by a young girl under Kilgrave’s control, telling her that Trish’s apology is accepted, for now.

Mostly convinced that Kilgrave isn’t involved in the Eastman case, Jessica sets about following her husband, but the paranoia makes her cautious, and she realizes that the situation is a setup. Not Kilgrave, but Eastman herself trying to take revenge against a gifted person for the damage caused in the Avengers Incident. Eastman wings her with a bullet, but Jessica loses it and trashes their room, telling them to leave town before her and her “friends” come back.

Simpson goes back to apologize again to Trish, bringing a peace offering of a gun. The two begin to talk and bond.

Trying to dial it back a bit after the encounter, Jessica sits down to listen to the support group and finds one of the men that was forced to act as Kilgrave’s chauffeur for weeks. He tells her that there were regular meetings with a man in a white and blue scarf, helping her hone in on her stalker in the police footage. Spotting the man she is saddened to realize that her stalker is Malcom.

TL;DR
A “Kilgrave Victim” support group forms after the radio broadcast, and helps Jessica find her stalker. Jessica comes face to face with anti-super prejudice, and Trish forms a relationship with Officer Simpson.
