Luke comes back into Jessica’s life, but he may wish he hadn’t.
Malcom continues his recovery as Jessica plots her next move. Kilgrave makes his own move by forcing a win at some very high stakes poker.
Luke arrives at the office, attempting to hire Jessica for a case of his own. He has promised a girl that he knows help in finding her lost brother Antoine. Jessica tries to pawn him off on another PI, but he insists that she help him, claiming he may need her special skills.
Jessica starts the search but is interrupted by the news of Hope’s injuries. Rushing to the prison she finds out that hope is pregnant, and desperate to abort, willing to die rather than have Kilgrave’s child. She makes a deal with Hogarth to get the needed pills to get the abortion underway.
Continuing the search for the missing brother, Luke and Jessica begin to rekindle their relationship, but in the process she finds out that he is only doing the girl this favor in return for evidence she has which claims that Reva’s death was not an accident. This puts Jessica on high alert, since she knows that it is true, and she doesn’t want Luke to know the truth. He tells her that Reva left him a message, telling him to retrieve something from the warehouse by where she was killed, but he didn’t find anything. Jessica knows that he failed because whatever was buried there, she dug it up with Kilgrave the same night she was forced to kill Reva.
A fake contest win leads to a meet with someone that may know where Antoine is, but Jessica is unable to shake Luke to do it herself, and the two follow the target to a warehouse and illegal pot growing operation. They find Antoine there, hiding out away from his sister and the loan sharks that he owes, but the loan shark finds him too. Luke and Jess fight off the thugs, and in the mess Jess manages to grab Antoine and take off, leaving Luke behind.
Meanwhile, with Hope’s abortion in progress, Hogarth arranges to have the fetus transferred to a medical lab for further testing, but refuses to tell the nurse why.
She tries to get to the sister first, in the hopes of getting the promised evidence before Luke can, but he shows up before she can get out with it. The sister gives them a report that shows the bus driver was drunk the night of the accident, leading Luke to believe that his negligence killed Reva. He leaves, and Jessica assumes it is over, but the sister is convinced that he’s planning to kill the bus driver, and Jessica races after.
Sure enough, Luke catches the driver’s bus and rides it to the last stop, confronting the man who also believes that he is at fault. He tosses him through the windshield of the bus and out into the street, but Jessica catches up to them and helps the driver get away. Luke tells her to stay out of it and she is forced to admit that she was the one that killed Reva. He is devastated by the revelation, and while he might be able to forgive her due to Kilgrave’s influence, he can’t handle that she kept it a secret, and even slept with him while knowing, all of which she did on her own. He tells her to get out of his life for good and storms off.
Kilgrave, taking care not to use his powers accidentally, carefully arranges the purchase of a house with his ill-gotten money. Pulling back some of the wallpaper, he verifies that it is in fact Jessica’s childhood home.
