The Defenders S1:E2 Mean Right Hook

Simple Synopsis

The weaving plot starts to bring the heroes together and tear the city apart.

Matt listens to the panic after the earthquake, and hears a bunch of kids being threatened with a gun. Unable to just stand by, he jumps in to help.

Trish goes on the radio, trying to calm people down. One of the callers questions if it was really a natural earthquake.

Misty gets called to the scene of the hotel room Jessica discovered. On her way out Jessica snags some of the evidence for her own investigation.

Colleen believes that the man in the sewer may indicate that they have allies. Danny continues to whine, sarcastically suggesting that they join a team. She points out that his sword was a very rare model, and she knows a shop in town that works on them, so they should start looking there.

Matt has a hard time keeping it together after his brief stint back in crime fighting, warring with himself. A call from Foggy snaps him out of it.

Luke uses his strength to help out with the cleanup in Harlem. He decides he wants to help the Harlem kids, and Claire directs him to a bar that serves as a criminal hotspot to look for clues.

The lady in white, appreciating a private musical performance, receives a visit from Madam Gao. She informs her that they’ve run into a hitch in their plan, a wall bearing the markings of K’un-lun is blocking their way and they cannot penetrate it. The woman in white insists that it is not a wall, but a doorway, and that there will be a key to open it.

Jessica continues her investigation, trying to trace down a company related to the husband, John Raymond. She finds a series of transfers and shell companies going back to the 1820’s, but is told if she needs older records she’ll need to go to the historical archives. Before she can leave she’s met by Hogarth, demanding to talk.

Matt and Foggy meet up at Josie’s bar, talking about their lives. Foggy is concerned that Matt is getting back into the vigilante game, and offers him some outsourced cases to help keep him busy, and safe.

Hogarth tries to warn Jessica off of the Raymond case, telling her that it’s become a national security issue, and worried that with so many people looking into it Jessica will get herself into trouble.

Luke hits up the bar and runs into Turk. He pressures him into talking and learns about a guy people call White Hat.

Danny and Colleen hit up the sword shop, and discover that it’s a secret meeting place for someone connected to K’un-lun. They don’t find out who, because they are all dead. Meanwhile, Luke follows Cole to the site of a job. A cleaning crew comes in to the shop to dispose of the bodies, and Danny starts to fight them off, chasing one of them outside, it just happens to be Cole. He runs into Luke and the two start fighting, Luke thinking Danny is after Cole, which he is, and Danny thinking that Luke is working with the people that killed his possible supporters. Danny is expectedly ineffective against Luke until he pulls out the Iron Fist and sends him flying. Before the fight can continue the cops arrive, sending Danny and Colleen running.

Jessica returns to her office to find Raymond holding Malcom at gunpoint, begging her to stop following him. He worries that it may already be too late, and tells her he was just trying to stop them from destroying the city. Before he can say more, Elektra arrives and kills him. Jessica tries to chase her out of the building but gets picked up by Misty for interfering in the investigation.

Being held in connection to Raymond’s murder, Jessica tries to explain that Misty is getting into something way beyond her pay grade, but she’s asked to stop talking by her new lawyer: Matt Murdock.

Elsewhere, the woman in white approaches a prisoner, the last of his group. She removes his mask to reveal Stick, and greets him as an old acquaintance. He gives us her name: Alexandrea.
