The group dynamic is in trouble when the Defenders decide they need to keep Danny away from the Hand.
With Sowande telling them that Danny is the key to the Hand’s plans in New York, Stick and the other heroes decide that the best thing to do is to keep Danny as far from the Hand as possible. Danny disagrees, insisting that he is the only one that can stop them, and a fight breaks out, leaving Danny unconscious. They tie him to a chair and try to figure out their next move. Matt tells them about the giant hole under Midland Circle, prompting more complaints about him not sharing sooner. With no way back in the building, Jessica decides to see if they can learn anything more from the architect.
Elektra wakes up in Matt’s room with more of her memories returning. She finds a memento from her funeral and takes it with her when she leaves.
Luke and Stick discuss the cleanup crew that came to remove the remains of the Chaste, and Stick’s plans for Sowande’s body, while Matt and Jessica go to his apartment. Matt notices the missing memento, but chooses not to share. They go back to Raymond’s wife’s place, looking for answers.
Madame Gao approaches Alexandra and tells her that the others will continue to follow her as leader, as long as she allows them to seek out the Iron Fist without the involvement of the Black Sky. She is left to think about the proposal.
Danny wakes up, still railing about the others turning on him. Luke calls him out for not trusting them. The two even begin to bond a bit, while Stick sits down the hall, meditating.
Matt and Jessica talk with Raymond’s daughter, and try to help her feel better about her father. Jessica tells her the story of her “friends” dad, the story of Matt’s father, and that he seemed like a criminal, but turned out to be a good guy.
Alexandra catches up to Elektra at her gravesite. She tells her that she isn’t that woman any longer, and that Daredevil let her die. She asks Elektra not to let him lead her astray, tells her that she is dying, and that they are working to obtain more of the substance that will allow them both to live forever, but that she needs Elektra’s help to succeed.
Raymond’s daughter tells Matt and Jessica that her father changed toward the end, eating less, sleeping less, becoming more distant, and occasionally sitting in front of the piano, but not playing. This gives Matt the idea to sit down and start playing, leading them to hidden blueprints for Midland Circle, hidden there by Raymond. They learn that there is something hidden at the bottom of the hole, under Midland Circle.
Stick warns Luke that he and Danny aren’t drinking buddies, and that he shouldn’t get too close. He follows up by burning some incense that knocks Luke out cold, and tells Danny that he will make it quick when he kills him, believing it to be the best way to truly keep him away from the Hand. Before he can vastly improve the second season of Iron Fist, Elektra arrives and begins to fight Stick as Matt and Jessica race toward them. Matt tries again to convince Elektra that she doesn’t need to listen to the Hand, but it doesn’t stop her from dealing Stick the killing blow. She kicks Matt across the room and grapples with Jessica just as Luke wakes up. Jessica is tossed into a wall, knocking her out, and Luke takes his turn, before a strong kick to the face. With the opposition done, and Danny still under from the incense, Elektra grabs him and leaps through a window.
Murakami joins Alexandra for dinner, speaking of making amends, but reveals that he plans to overthrow her. His plans are brought to an end when Elektra arrives with Danny.
With the remaining fingers of the Hand gathered, Alexandra tells Danny that they only want, like him, to return to Kun’lun, and that in time he will serve them. When he is hauled away Alexandra orders Elektra to kill off Danny’s allies, and reminds the others that she is the leader, and that they follow her because she gets things done. However, as she finishes her speech, Elektra takes matters into her own hands, retrieving her sai and killing Alexandra. She declares herself the new leader of the Hand.
